Surgeons of the city emergency hospital number 1 for the first time performed embolization of prostate arteries in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (prostate adenoma). The institution is the only one in the region performing such operations. As specialists note today, this is the most highly effective and low-traumatic method of affecting prostate adenoma. To date, 4 patients have been operated. All of them feel well and are ready for discharge.
The essence of the procedure is embolization (blockage, blockage) of arterial vessels, blood supplying the enlarged prostate. As a result, it decreases. Embolization is a painless, low-traumatic procedure, so anesthesia is not required. Only local anesthesia is used at the puncture site.
The main advantages of this operation are also the rapid restoration of the patient's working capacity, the extremely low probability of any complications in comparison with surgical methods of treatment, the period of hospitalization is 1 day. Patients after the procedure do not need bandaging, anesthesia and intensive care, outside help.
